Development tools open new possibilities for HPC and high performance embedded applications

nvidia cudaWarwick, UK, Allinea Software, the trusted leaders in development tools for high performance computing (HPC), released new support for version 5.5 of the NVIDIA® CUDA® parallel programming toolkit today. Simultaneously they have enhanced support for C++11 and the GNU 4.8 compilers. These developments come as in a technology update release – version 4.1.1 – of its tools designed to allow developers to stay ahead of the game.

Also introduced with Allinea DDT 4.1.1 was CUDA toolkit debugging support for ARMv7 architectures, hybrid platforms offering developers lower energy consumption for HPC.

Allinea DDT is part of Allinea Software’s unified tools platform, which provides a single powerful and intuitive environment for debugging and profiling of parallel and multithreaded applications. It is widely used by computational scientists and scientific programmers to fix software defects of parallel applications running on hybrid GPU clusters and supercomputers such as the fastest supercomputer in the U.S., Titan, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

“Everyone wants to program on a higher level – from OpenACC 2.0 through to C++11 – and now they can find tools on that higher level,” said Mark O'Connor, VP of Product Management at Allinea Software.  “It's important that software developers can take the latest toolkits, compilers and architectures and know that Allinea Software's tools are ready for them.”

“Robust debugging support is essential to software development, and Allinea DDT enables users to code with confidence for both OpenACC and the NVIDIA CUDA platform,” said Duncan Poole, senior manager, Strategic Alliances for Accelerated Computing Division at NVIDIA, and president of OpenACC. “We have worked to closely align Allinea Software’s highly scalable cluster debugger with our drivers and CUDA toolkit releases.”

The Portland Group will also be showcasing forthcoming on-device debugging support for CUDA FORTRAN using Allinea DDT at the SC13 exhibition in Denver.

Allinea Software will be exhibiting the latest developments for high performance computing at SC13, Denver, November 18th-21st 2013, at booth #1719.
