Intel® Xeon Phi™ Coprocessor debugging and profiling takes off with Allinea Software’s seamless development platform
Tools assisting Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor users in seamless transition to coprocessor technology
2013-11-14, Warwick – The rise of coprocessor-based computing has caught everyone’s attention, and today Allinea Software announced the immediate availability of fully integrated development tools for applications running on the host and coprocessor.
The 4.1.1 release of Allinea tools enables users to increase the performance and the success of code migration to the coprocessor by providing both debugging and profiling within the single unified Allinea tools environment using Allinea DDT and Allinea MAP.
“Our debugging tool, Allinea DDT, and our performance profiling tool, Allinea MAP, are ready to make a major impact on Intel® Xeon Phi™ developers,” said David Lecomber, CEO of Allinea Software. “We have worked with early users in areas of scientific discovery at the very edge of the cosmos through to the molecular dynamics to ensure the tools would match their needs on this platform, and they have been reporting terrific successes with the tools already.”
“We knew people were looking for tools that could seamlessly debug applications using Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors – with one interface to easily debug all processes and threads or offloaded regions, for example. Allinea DDT delivers on that, even in the most complex codes.” said Mark O’Connor, VP of Product Management of Allinea Software.
On performance profiling, O’Connor adds “It is easier to get more out of Intel® Xeon Phi™ with tools that are designed to show you how code is performing – and when you are missing out. With Allinea MAP’s vectorization and memory access metrics these wins are immediate.”
“The tools from Allinea Software provide a route to migrate applications to Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors for developers of parallel applications on high performance compute platforms,” said James Reinders, Chief Evangelist for Software at Intel®. “The integrated support for debugging and profiling provided by their scalable tools is a fantastic addition to the ecosystem for our platform.”
Allinea will be exhibiting at the SC13 conference and exhibition in Denver, 18th-21st November 2013.
