Allinea issues News Online, an update of news and forthcoming events in HPC Tools.
Dear valued customers,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to our 2nd edition of Allinea News on Line. Our first quarter of 2005 is now over and we would like to thank you all for the great help you gave us in making Allinea successful.
We registered a growing number of new worldwide customers that demonstrate how our first product DDT is now accepted and recommended. This 2nd edition, we hope, will give you more detail on our near future and we hope to see you again soon.

aim is to inform you of the latest news from Allinea on a regular
basis. Please feel free to

Product News
Version 1.9 of the Distributed Debugging Tool (DDT) has been announced. It offers a lot of new features and improvements, including:
- Improved source code viewer - including tabbed file browsing
- File selector now lists functions allowing rapid jump to source
- New right click functionality in the source code viewer
- For functions at the mouse position: jump to source, or set a breakpoint.
- For variables: evaluate the variable, drop in multi-dimensional array viewer, cross-process comparison window or the evaluate window
- Memory debugging - new advanced memory debugging capabilities,
- User-definable Wizards and API to display complex data types such as C++ STL
- New auto-configuration wizard to simplify first time use of DDT and to diagnose typical start up problems
- Create process groups by using the cross-process comparison window
- Restart session functionality changed to automatically reload settings (eg. breakpoints, variables).
This version will be available for download to all customers who have a current licence for maintenance and support. A 30-day trial licence is also available - see downloads and the DDT page.
DDT 1.9 adds support for AIX 5.3, Solaris 10 on Opteron, the Cray XD1, Fedora 2, 3 & 4, Suse 9.3, Gentoo, Ubuntu, Debian, Archlinux , PGI 6.0 compilers, Intel 8 & 9, Pathscale 2.
A Preview Release of Allinea OPT - Optimization and Profiling Tool is now available. OPT is a new solution for application developers who require optimal performance on large-scale parallel architectures. OPT is the first of Allinea's new generation of Grid-enabled tools for HPC, with a client/server architecture that works transparently on local or remote compute resources. See the OPT pages.
How to... "do Memory Debugging with DDT". This is one of the new feature available in DDT 1.9. For further information about how to use it, read the Memory Debugging White Paper.
