Allinea announces general availability of DDT for IBM Linux on Power™
Allinea brings IBM LoP customers comprehensive and easy-to-use development tools for High Performance Computing
Warwick, UK – November 8, 2004 – Allinea Software Ltd, a leading supplier of interoperable tools for HPC and formerly the software arm of Streamline Computing Ltd, today announced availability of the latest version of its Distributed Debugging Tool (DDT) for Linux on POWER™. DDT v1.8 provides a comprehensive, scalable and easy-to-use development solution for C/C++ and Fortran on IBM Linux on POWER™ clusters and multi-processor server systems.
DDT offers a graphical user interface that is generally recognized as the most intuitive interface available, whether developing scalar, multi-threaded or large-scale parallel applications. With the release of DDT v1.8, Allinea now provides a native debugging capability for advanced C++ and Fortran 95 users, fully compatible with the latest IBM XL Fortran and C/C++ compilers. DDT v1.8 is available for IBM Linux on Power systems, including IBM eServer pSeries, JS-20 IBM eServer BladeCenter JS20, and IBM POWER5 systems running SLES 8, SLES 9, or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0. In addition to offering a fully integrated debugger, DDT v1.8 will continue to interface directly with many of the best-known commercial and open-source debuggers to provide a flexible solution across IBM Linux and AIX platforms.
Allinea has been working closely with the IBM Linux on POWER™ team, as well as key end-users, to provide LoP customers with the best available technology for parallel debugging. “The need to debug parallel applications on increasing numbers of processors is an inevitable by-product of the adoption of low-cost MPP clusters and high capacity blade servers”, said Michael Rudgyard, CEO of Allinea Software. “Without such tools, HPC developers will be unable to make good use of these resources, and chip manufacturers will ultimately sell fewer processors. At Allinea, we believe our DDT tool is the world’s easiest-to-use debugging solution, and we are pleased to offer IBM customers access to our new release.”
“This announcement is a strong example of the continued and growing momentum of Linux on POWER in the industry,” said Brian Connors, vice president of Linux on POWER, IBM Systems & Technology Group. “Allinea is one of a growing network of leading solution providers who develop powerful solutions to keep our shared customers competitive in their respective markets. We are delighted to be working with them to provide solutions to help clients maximize their use of technology to achieve their business goals."
